Labour Party Suspends Chairman In Osun
The group hinged the suspension on allegations of anti-party and mismanagement of funds.
A factional group within the Osun State chapter of Labour Party, said to be loyalists of Lamidi Apapa have suspended the chairman of the party in the state, Bello Adebayo from the ward level on allegations of anti-party and mismanagement of funds.
The Chairman of Ward 12, Hammed Sheriff stated this during a press conference on Tuesday at the NUJ press centre in Osogbo the Osun State capital.
The ward chairman said the executive is empowered by Article 19 1b Subsections 2, 4, 5 and Article 19 2b Subsection 3 of the party constitution to suspend any member who is absent at the Ward meeting 10 times.
Led by the chairman of Ward 12, Osogbo local government, Hammed Sheriff, the group hinged the suspension on allegations of anti-party and mismanagement of funds.
It would be recalled that Bello Adebayo had last week suspended the National legal adviser of the party, Barrister Oyelekan Akingbade, the state women leader, Suzan Ojo and other 11 local government chairmen.
In the same vein, the acting State Chairman, Mrs Suzan Ojo warned the suspended chairman to stop parading himself as the party chairman in the state so as not to cause further problems in the party,
According to her, Mr Bello should also account for over N30 million party funds in his purse while serving as the chairman.
The state exco threw his weight behind the Lamidi Apapa-led National Working Committee as the only recognized national leadership.
