INTEGRITY QUESTION FOR ARCHBISHOP CLETUS BASSEY

There are few questions nagging for answers from Archbishop Cletus Bassey over his chameleonistic indulgences. A chameleon is a little animal of the reptalia family who changes colour in tandem with its environment. According to Marriam Webster, “chameleons are well known to most people, easily recognizable by their body shape, independently moving eyes, paw-like hands and feet, and ability to change color rapidly.”
In surly sympathy with this maradonic tendentious mammal, it has since become an endangered specie in the tropics. The mellenials may not have seen one around them of late, except in Nat Geo Wild.
One of the characteristic mannerisms of chameleons is their nature to change colours. They’re unpredictably erratic and clever in their dealings with others in the ecosystem. Chameleons come out once the weather is favourable. Chameleons are a fair-weather friend.
Archbishop Cletus Bassey rightly is situated in this class. You can curse the heavens, howsoever, you may but the truth must be told; our younger generation must not be deceived by the sleight of people like the archbishop who can betray their friends, their co-travellers in the narrow path of light for darkness.
Unless we begin to speak out, and boldly too, the likes of Cletus Bassey in the name of politics and brute lust for power will delude many and exchange their destinies for few pieces of silver coins and red pottages.
I am one of those who benefited from the Vision Theological Seminary as student, and can say boldly that the archbishop my one time trainer in Christian character and conduct has derailed so badly, but instead of his followers to pray for his restoration, they’re quick to curse, forgetting that curse causeless doesn’t come.
I participated in the last ACA prayer jamboree and what was flying freely from the mouth of Archbishop Cletus Bassey was just a clear anger borne out of sheer hatred for Gov. Udom Emmanuel and his preferred successor, Pastor Umo Eno, the archbishop’s one time friend and closest ally.
I’m compelled by some obvious truths to point out some contradictions in the archbishop’s devious agenda, so truths be seen. Says 2 Corinthians 13:8 “For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.”
Archbishop Cletus Bassey lied openly about choice of gubernatorial candidate:
At the last ACA outing, archbishop shouted at the rooftops to whoever cared to listen to him that he has not decided on the choice of governorship candidate to support for March 11, 2023 election in Akwa Ibom State.
This is an hypocritical lie! Archbishop Cletus Bassey has since the last elections in 2019 been working with Rev. Mrs. Angela Ashong to ensure Akwa Ibom governorship seat becomes the possession of Senator Bassey Albert aka OBA. It’s as clear as crystal that the archbishop has declared for OBA and nothing more to hide. Maybe he’s afraid of being laughed at for making a volte-face on his earlier vow that no cultist will become a governor in Akwa Ibom State after the current administration. OBA himself has openly admitted he’s a cultist but “Cultist for Christ,” (whatever that means to him and his desperate media urchins).
The fear of backlashes for openly declaring for OBA at ACA meeting cast a wedge on his throat because there are some pastors in ACA whom he has successfully blinded to believe ACA is neutral. The archbishop knows that the moment he publicly declares for OBA on the platform of ACA, many will “to your tents of Israel.” So, to still put up faces of these pastors at ACA meetings, he cleverly lies to them on stance on OBA. What an hypocrate! Archbishop Cletus has been holding clandestine meetings with OBA, plotting how to upset the Governor’s succession plan.
At the just celebrated Christmas, the archbishop distributed OBA’s rice to his church members right inside the church, even when some of his members kicked against sharing OBA branded rice in the church, the archbishop insisted that OBA is his son – spiritual and political.
A source unhappy about the situation accused the archbishop for toying with the destinies of members.
Archbishop Cleltus’s escape plan
The archbishop plans a trip away to the US during the election, so he won’t participate in voting. A source in his church said that the itinerary of the archbishop shows he will be outside the country from late February through the month of March. He further disclosed that the foreign trip is an annual programme the archbishop usually embarks on.
There is a lacuna here! Why will the archbishop arrange a trip outside the country during an important season like elections? The simple answer is that he’s just carved out an escape route for himself. He will not be able to face the boomerang ripple effects of OBA losing badly at the polls and returning to prison as a convict.
To ensure a fail proof plan, he secured US green cards for all members of his family, bought houses in US and have settled them there.
The archbishop has seen that the current dynamics of politics towards the guber election don’t favour YPP, a third force party he “prophesized” of and have perfected an escape ahead of polls.
At the last elections, he left for US abruptly during campaigns and hid there till the conclusion of the elections and the swearing in of the governor’s second term.
The archbishop’s blind followers
The church has such much taught reverence to authority to the extent that members cannot hold the leaders to questions and accountability. That the archbishop is plotting a one million man march against Gov. Udom Emmanuel is not a secret, but the question is: Where are his children? If his children and wife will not join the protest the archbishop is plotting, then those who follow him must be jokers whose sense of reasoning numbed. Credible leaders go to war with all his but this runaway archbishop has kept away his children safe in secure palaces in America and is calling out youths to protest against government…is this not wickedness?
His followers should ask him: “Archbishop, why are you suddenly plotting the fall of your very close friend, Pastor Umo Eno, a fellow clergyman, a man you have previously praised to the high heavens as a dependable Christian leader with pure character, godliness and competence?”
Ask the archbishop: “Why have you turned overnight against the distinguished Senator Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi as soon as she became the deputy governor choice of PDP – your own dear daughter and your greatest benefactor in church?”
There is serious integrity question about the archbishop’s conscienceless politics.
His personal media aide whom he put as YPP publicity secretary, Deacon Akan Emah is married to the Senator Eyakenyi’s immediate younger sister. Sadly, the archbishop has believed in filthy lucre from OBA than in the future peace of his aides. Archbishop, a source said, has advised his aides to ignore the senator. Akan Emah, a source hinted, threatened to end his marriage to the wife if she is sympathetic to her elder sister’s cause.
Followers should ask the archbishop: “Why have you snubbed the revered Akwa Ibom State Spiritual Fathers, especially Archbishop Elijah Akpan Mboho, a formidable evangelist and an apostle who weaned and raised both Cletus Bassey and Angela Ashong? Why have both refused to heed the counsel of this patriarch who has warned them against fighting the governor?”
For those who don’t know, Papa Mboho consecrated Cletus as Bishop and Archbishop wthin the space of two years interval. Papa Mboho did that to help Cletus Bassey become CAN chairman, Akwa Ibom State chapter. But today, Cletus Bassey is far away from the gospel sage, Pa Mboho. Is it because of his failed attempt to make Pa Mboho accept OBA? The gameplan started when Andy Nnyenime marked his birthday at Ibom Hall and Angela Ashong brought Pa Mboho to attend the event and OBA was in attendance. But the plan suddenly collapse when Pa Mboho realized politics was behind the birthday event and withdrew his support.
Till today, the public is yet to see any credible Christian father with Archbishop Cletus Bassey’s ACA because of OBA and Andy Nnyenime, a political inchoate who has thrown buckets of insults on the spiritual fathers.
I have many questions nagging for answers but let me hold off here, so I await the answers before the next trip.
