GOVERNOR UMO ENO TOURS FACILITIES IN AKWA IBOM STATE

Governor Umo Eno today led a team of top government functionaries, including his Deputy, Sen. Akon Eyakenyi; the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong. Uwah; and senior Aides, on a tour around the state.

The tour, which was aimed at connecting with the people of the state and stimulating economic activities, is a clear demonstration of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno’s commitment to the actualization of the Arise Agenda as encapsulated in the economic blueprint of the Governor.

The Governor began his tour with a condolence visit to the family of Chief Samingo Etuk Akpan in Eket Local Government Area. Chief Samingo Etuk Akpan recently lost four members of his family and a granddaughter in an auto crash, which also claimed the lives of 12 members of the Salvation Army Church who were returning from a Church meeting. The Governor who had earlier sent his condolence message to both the family and the Church defied the morning rain to share in the grief of the family at the family compound in Eket Local Government Area. The Governor promised to also visit the Salvation Army to commiserate with Church.

Arriving at Esit Eket Local Government Area, Governor Umo inspected the Dakkada Global Oil Palm Limited, formerly known as Akwa Palms, to ascertain the state of the facility. Pastor Umo Eno, while addressing the leaders and people of the six communities where the Dakkada Global Oil Palm is situated as well as stakeholders, noted that he was impressed with the condition of the oil palm and disclosed his administration’s intention to support the project. He stated that the state government will consider areas in which to strengthen the company for optimal productivity. He expressed the state government’s willingness to invest in the company in order to create jobs and help drive the economy of the area and the state at large. The Governor engaged the communities on fruitful discussions, which yielded positive result, as the communities unanimously surrendered the farmland to the state government to boost agriculture.

While enroute to Ikot Abasi Local Government, His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno made a surprise stop over at Etebi market, Esit Eket to encourage traders, market men and women. He urged them to remain steadfast in their entrepreneurial endeavors as his administration will always place high premium on agriculture and entrepreneurial development.

The last port of call for the Governor was the Ibom Power Plant at Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, where Governor Umo embarked on a facility tour of the Station, noting that his administration will work hard to address the state power challenges with a view to ensuring energy sufficiency for residents of the state.
