655 SMEs, Farmers Benefit from Governor Umo Eno’s Empowerment Scheme in Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency

A significant milestone was achieved as 655 entrepreneurs, comprising farmers and small and medium-scale business owners in Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency, received robust support from Governor Umo Eno.

The business support initiative disbursed a total of N260 million in grants and essential equipment during a Town Square meeting held on April 17, 2025, at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.

The beneficiaries were selected from the three local government areas—Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim and Obot Akara—that constitute the Federal Constituency.

In his address to the constituents, Governor Umo Eno expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he received from them during the 2023 election campaign.

He emphasized that this empowerment initiative is a fulfillment of his commitment to support agricultural and small enterprise development in the region.

The Town Square meeting served multiple purposes as it was an opportunity for the Governor to engage with the people, share insights about governmental efforts aimed at regional development and gather feedback from constituents regarding areas requiring government intervention, as outlined in the NEEDS document.

Reiterating his administration’s dedication to the ARISE Agenda, Governor Eno encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the grants and equipment wisely to grow their businesses.

He also acknowledged the collaborative support from the federal government, particularly praising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, along with Senate President Dr. Godswill Akpabio and his wife, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio.

Dr. Godswill Akpabio, represented by Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, hailed Governor Umo Eno as a “God-sent leader” who has transformed governance in Akwa Ibom state. She assured him of her party’s support, affirming their commitment to help ensure his continued leadership beyond 2027.

Prominent stakeholders from the Federal Constituency, including Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, House of Representatives Member Dr. Patrick Umoh, and various local government chairpersons, applauded the governor’s extensive community-oriented projects undertaken within his nearly two-year tenure. They expressed unanimous support for sustaining his initiatives and securing a second term for him in 2027.

The event attracted a large and enthusiastic crowd, highlighting the community’s eagerness to participate in the economic upliftment and development initiatives spearheaded by the Governor. The palpable excitement and optimism reflected the positive impact of such empowerment schemes on the grassroots economy and the collective aspiration for a prosperous future.
