2023 Governorship: Forum of Councilors Adopts Pastor Umo Eno

… Vows to Ensure All Round Success
In the spirit of multiple endorsements trailing the Governorship aspiration of Pastor Umo Eno, the Forum of Councilors in Akwa Ibom State have unanimously endorsed the aspiration with a pledge to work and ensure success at the primaries and the general elections in 2023.
Speaking on behalf of Uyo, Eket, and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Councilors, Hon Ubong Effiong, Leader Uyo legislative council, Hon Collins Emmanuel, Leader of Onna Legislative Council and Rt Hon Sunday Festus, Leader of Oruk Anam Legislative Council respectively expressed delight and satisfaction at the choice of Pastor Umo Eno by Akwa Ibom stakeholders to succeed Governor Udom Emmanuel in 2023.
They said it was heart warming to have the frontline aspirant in their forum for consultation describing the gesture as a rare show of recognition.
The Councilors acknowledged that power is given by God, and to men of trust, adding that God had through Governor Udom Emmanuel and the electorate entrusted them with powers at the grassroots, and assured that they will not betray the trust.
They reasoned that the choice of Pastor Umo Eno by Akwa Ibom stakeholders is borne out of trust and dire need for continuity and sustainable development in the State adding that they will stand by the team to ensure success.
According to them, “after now, we will retire to our wards to preach the gospel of pastor Umo Eno. Your aspiration is divine and we will stand by you. We want to assure you that there is no cause for alarm. Your aspiration is a done deal. Governor Udom Emmanuel will land well.”

In a motion moved and seconded by Hon Queen Sandra Bassey, leader Abak Legislative Council and Hon Hillary Augustine Udi, Deputy Chief Whip, Uyo Legislative Council, the 368 Councilors resolved to adopt Pastor Umo Eno as their preferred aspirant for the 2023 governorship election.
Earlier in his speech, the Governorship hopeful, Pastor Umo Eno described the Councilors as the most critical and important people at the grassroots adding that it was therefore necessary to officially notify them of his aspiration for the 2022 governorship election.
Pastor Eno noted that Governor Udom has done enough to develop the State and his achievements must not be allowed to decay, stressing that there is need for consolidation and continuation of the development stride.
According to him, “we need to raise enterprising young men and women. We need to build agriculture, that is agribusiness. We need to train our manpower for the many industries springing up in the State. Our youths have to be ready for the numerous jobs that will come up, because it would not be proper to bargain for slots from multinationals without people with requisite qualifications.”
Pastor Umo Eno assured that there will be a need assessment in the rural areas to ensure that the actual needs of the people are met accordingly.

Also speaking, the Deputy Director General of Campaigns, Prince Godwin Ntukudeh, International President of Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaicy Affairs, Hon Frank Archibong harped on the qualities of Pastor Umo Eno and urged the Councilors to endorse his aspiration.
