2023 Gov: Obong Afangideh Endorses Umo Eno

…Admonishes Governorship Hopeful to Promote Love, Peace, Unity

A Frontline stakeholder of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, and Political Leader of Essien Udim Local Government Area, Obong Michael Afangideh, has endorsed the 2023 Governorship ambition of the State Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno.

Obong Afangideh who expressed satisfaction at the choice of Pastor Umo Eno called on him to consolidate on the prevailing peace and unity witnessed in the State, and urged the Governorship hopeful to let love and compassion be his guiding principle, as he campaigns to lead the people to greater prosperity and sustainable economic growth and development.

he Elder statesman stated these earlier today Wednesday February 16, when the Umo Eno for Governor 2023 Consultation Team visited him in his hometown, Ikot Umo Essien, Essien Udim Local Government Area.

Obong Afangideh who expressed appreciation for the visit, reminded the Team that he has always endorsed past Governorship aspirants, all of whom have gone ahead to win elections, calling on the Lands and Water Resources Commissioner not only to be humble and have the fear of God, but to remember all those who have stood by him as he begins his political journey to the Hilltop

in 2023.

“I have always adopted, endorsed and blessed all past Governors of this state. With this hands of mine, I prayed for and blessed His Excellency, Obong Akpan Isemin, His Excellency, Obong Victor Attah, His Excellency, Godswill Akpabio and His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel. With that same hands, I bless you. I transmit my political blessings upon you and may it translate into victory for you in 2023. Go and get victory but please remember your supporters, have love for Akwa Ibom people and do not disappoint the state,” he prayed.

Addressing the gathering, the Director General (DG), Umo Eno Governorship Campaign Organization, Ambassador Assam Assam, SAN, explained that the essence of the visit was to present to Obong Afangideh, the preferred successor to Governor Udom Emmanuel and to seek his prayers and blessings and prayers, assuring that Umo Eno will not only ensure peace and prosperity of the state but will ensure continuity of the Completion Agenda and create jobs for the teaming youths of the state so as to guarantee peace, stability, development and wealth creation for the people.

In his address, the National Chairman of Maintain Peace Movement, MPM, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, stated that the team was in Ikot Umo Essien as a mark of respect for Chief Afangideh in view of the various contributions he has made towards the growth of the state and the success of the PDP since 1998.

He noted that Akwa Ibom people will forever love and respect him because he represents truth, justice, fairness and peace.

“We are here to present one of your sons, Pastor Umo Eno to you for your endorsement and blessings for the 2023 Governorship election. Nobody so endorsed by you since 1999 has ever failed the election and Umo Eno, with your blessings, will be no exception,” he said.

Enoidem said Eno, having been a successful entrepreneur and private sector player who has employed over 500 workers, has the capacity to manage the economy, create jobs and replicate the same feat of successes in the governance of the state when he becomes Governor.

“Umo Eno is an epitome of peace. We can not afford to compromise the peace and unity of the State but to consolidate on it. Umo Eno has the capacity to take Akwa Ibom to the next level we all envisage and we urge you to give him your blessings” he stated.

On his part, Pastor Umo Eno thanked Obong Afangideh for the warm reception and hospitality accorded him and his entourage, stating that his visit to the Essien Udim Political Leader was to seek his blessings, advise and support towards the realization of his 2023 Governorship bid, assuring that he will always strive to justify the confidence of Akwa Ibom people and sustain the prevailing peace and unity in the state.

In his address, the Chairman, Essien Udim Local Government Area, Hon Anthony Luke, thanked God for the peace currently experienced in Essien Udim today, a feat he noted was made possible by the love and peaceful disposition of Governor Udom Emmanuel, recalling that though insecurity was at its peak in the past months in the area, normalcy had returned to Essien Udim through the proactive intervention of the Governor.

Hon Luke who described Governor Emmanuel as a honest and straight forward leader who does not renege on his promises, said Essien Udim is the second home of the Governor and as such Essien Udim people will always stand with the Governor in his Completion Agenda and succession plan.
